サンショクウミワシ（三色海鷲）と、コシジロイヌワシ（腰白犬鷲）は、ともにタカ目タカ科の鳥で、どちらも大型であることから「ワシ」という名前が付けられています。
また、どちらもアフリカ大陸に生息しており、やや偏食家的な一面を持っています。サンショクウミワシは、魚類を主食としており、コシジロイヌワシはハイラックス（イワダヌキ）を好んで捕食します。
