ミナミキンランチョウは、赤道以南のアフリカの湿地や草地に見られる、赤い体が特徴的な小さな鳥です。
ホオジロカンムリヅルは、アフリカに生息するツル科の鳥で、額の黒いビロード状に密生した黒い毛と、頭頂部の麦むぎわらを束たばねたような羽毛（冠毛）が特徴です。ウガンダの国鳥で国旗にも描かれています。
