ゼニガタアザラシは、体の模様がまるで銭（古いお金）のように見えることから、その名がついた日本近海にも棲息するアザラシです。北海道の沿岸などに生息しており、丸い体にかわいらしい黒い模様が特徴。愛嬌たっぷりの表情と、陸上でのんびりくつろぐ姿に癒されます。

The harbor seal, known in Japanese as the Zenigata Azarashi, gets its name from the coin-like patterns on its body that resemble old Japanese coins. These seals inhabit coastal areas around Japan, especially along the shores of Hokkaido. With their round bodies and charming black spots, they’re easily recognizable. Their endearing expressions and the relaxed way they lounge on land never fail to bring a smile to those who see them.
