愛鳥週間（バードウィーク）とは、日本において「野鳥を大切にし、守ろう！」という考えを広めることを目的とした期間です。
昭和22年（1947 AD）４月10日に「バードデーの集い」（現 （公財）日本鳥類保護連盟主催）として始まりました。その後、昭和25年（1950 AD）に毎年５月10日から16日の１週間を「愛鳥週間」と定め、現在まで続いています。
どんな動物？
鳥類は、飛行を得意とした動物です。現生する鳥類はくちばしを持つ卵生の脊椎動物であり、一般的には体表が羽毛で覆われた恒温動物で、歯はなく、前肢が翼になって、飛翔のための適応が顕著であり、二足歩行を行います。
