佘山扶助者聖母大殿は、中国の上海市松江区の佘山の頂上にある大規模なカトリック聖堂で、中国カトリック教会の著名な聖母巡礼地です。

この聖堂の歴史は古く、佘山周辺では100年以上前からカトリックが広まっていました。聖堂の建設は、1868年に始まりました。その後、大聖堂の建設が行われ、1935年に完成しました。

大聖堂はロマネスク建築で、外観は赤レンガの壁と尖がったアーチ型のステンドグラスで飾られ、内部には3000人の座席があります。聖堂の最も特徴的な部分は、38メートルの高さの鐘楼で、その頂点には「進教之佑聖母托小耶稣」の銅像があります。

文化大革命の時期に大聖堂は破壊されましたが、その後復興され、1981年に再びカトリックの礼拝が行われるようになりました。今日、この聖堂は信徒や観光客にとって重要な場所であり、多くの人々が巡礼に訪れます。

Sheshan Basilica of Our Lady Help of Christians

The Sheshan Basilica of Our Lady Help of Christians is a large Catholic cathedral located on the peak of Sheshan Hill in Songjiang District, Shanghai, China. It is a prominent Marian pilgrimage site for the Catholic Church in China.

The history of this basilica is long, with Catholicism having spread in the Sheshan area for over a hundred years before its construction. The building of the original church began in 1868. Subsequently, the construction of the larger basilica took place and was completed in 1935.

The basilica is of Romanesque architecture. The exterior is decorated with red brick walls and pointed, arched stained-glass windows, while the interior has seating for 3,000 people. The most distinctive part of the basilica is its 38-meter-high bell tower, topped by a bronze statue of "Our Lady Help of Christians with the Child Jesus."

The basilica was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution but was later restored, and Catholic worship resumed in 1981. Today, the basilica is an important location for the faithful and for tourists, with many people visiting it on pilgrimage.
