メテキ聖母マリア被昇天教会は、単にメテヒ教会として知られ、クラ川の左岸に位置するジョージア正教会の教会です。トビリシの旧市街の向かいにあるメテヒ崖の上にあります。現存する建造物の多くは中世に遡り、ジョージア王デメトリウス2世の治世下、西暦1278年から1289年の間に建設されたとされていますが、口伝ではメテキの起源は5世紀にまで遡ります。The Metekhi Church of the Mother of God, known simply as the Metekhi Church, is a Georgian Orthodox church located on the left bank of the Mtkvari River. It stands atop the Metekhi cliff, opposite the Old Town of Tbilisi. Much of the current structure dates back to the Middle Ages, believed to have been constructed between 1278 and 1289 AD during the reign of King Demetrius II of Georgia, although oral tradition traces Metekhi's origins back to the 5th century.

It is said that the name "Tbilisi" is derived from "tbili," meaning "warm," and is related to its hot springs. The city has a long history, with evidence of habitation dating back to around 4000 B.C.
